The Ole Miss Rebels have been active in the transfer portal this offseason, and one of their latest commits came from former Arizona State shortstop Luke Hill.

While Hill brings a big bat to try and replace Jacob Gonzalez in Oxford, Sun Devils head coach Willie Bloomquist said their players and program think they'll be better off without his services at shortstop in Tempe.

"Based on the response from our players, they aren't in the same category as Luke Hill," Bloomquist said. "I say that with the respect of our players, I know their make-up and they were not happy with how it went down. Not the fact that he's gone, not the fact that he transferred, it's just how it went down. Matter of fact, a lot of them think we're going to be much better without him minus the attitude that at times showed its head with him."

In his first season playing college baseball, Hill hit six home runs, drove in 42 runs and scored 43. He slashed .314/.389/.456 last season en route to All-Pac 12 Honorable Mention.

Hill committed to Ole Miss Monday, thanking his "family and friends who have helped me get here."

"Thank you to ASU for giving me the chance to start my college career," Hill said in a tweet. "With that being stated, I will be continuing my baseball and academic career at Ole Miss. Hotty Toddy… let’s get to work!!"
