Ole Miss Rebels coach Chris Beard is dipping his toes into the transfer waters at his old stomping grounds in Lubbock, as the team has reported interest in Texas Tech Red Raiders transfer guard C.J. Williams.

The Ole Miss Rebels continue to make some game-changing additions to the roster via the transfer portal, but coach Chris Beard and Co. are hardly satisfied yet.

The quest for more transfer talent is unsurprisingly continuing this offseason, as Ole Miss has emerged as a squad with reported interest in more notable names. This includes a player from Beard's former team in the Texas Tech Red Raiders, who are experiencing roster turnover after coach Mark Adams stepped down following a suspension stemming from insensitive comments he reportedly made this past season.

The Rebels are reaching out to Texas Tech transfer guard Corey (C.J.) Williams Jr., per reports from The Portal Report. Ole Miss is one of the most notable teams on a list that currently includes programs like Mercer, Texas State, Richmond, LA Tech and others.

Williams is still a raw prospect with a lack of collegiate experience, but could grow under Beard in the seasons to come if he chooses Ole Miss. He played in just six games during his freshman year this past season, posting six total points on 1 of 7 shooting and three total rebounds, averaging one point per game.

The Rebels have already added two new faces to their backcourt with Georgetown transfer Brandon Murray and Arizona State transfer Austin Nunez, but Williams could carve out a bigger role off the bench for himself behind these two and standout guard Matthew Murrell, who still has to make a final decision on potentially returning.

The Rebels still have some work to do in order to finalize the roster, and making Williams the fifth transfer addition in this class would bring Ole Miss and Beard one step closer to doing so.
