Ole Miss Forward Jaemyn Brakefield Impacts Community Following Career-High Performance
OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Rebels men's basketball team is going through a rough patch this season, but the players are still representing the university with flying colors on and off the court.
Ole Miss forward Jaemyn Brakefield decided to pay a visit to the students of Della Davidson Elementary School in Oxford on Wednesday, the day after he dropped a career-high 24 points in Ole Miss' 78-74 victory over the Georgia Bulldogs.
In this week's episode of The Season, Brakefield was shown hanging out with the students and reading out loud to a classroom.
"[This is] something I usually do every week," Brakefield said on The Season. "Whether it's just coming to lunch to eat with the kids or just spending time with them at recess."
Brakefield has made a positive impact in the Oxford community and on the court this year. The 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward is currently the second-leading scorer on the Rebels with 10.1 PPG and leads the team in 3pt percentage among players who have appeared in at least 24 games with 37.9 percent.
Brakefield also boasts the third-best field goal percentage on Ole Miss this season with 54.3 percent.
The Rebels are set to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks in the SJB Pavilion on Saturday at 12 p.m. CT.
