It has been a busy day for Ole Miss Rebels men's basketball.

After getting word that Matthew Murrell withdrew from the 2023 NBA Draft and will return for his season and landing former Auburn small forward Allen Flanigan in the transfer portal, three-star shooting guard Jason Jackson committed to Chris Beard and the Rebels, his NIL advisor Chris Wash announced on Twitter Tuesday.

Jackson will reclassify to the class of 2024 after signing with Overtime Elite's Cold Hearts for the 2023 season, Wash said, marking the first official commitment in what will be Beard's first full recruiting cycle. Jackson committed to the Rebels over Florida, LSU and Virginia Tech among others.

According to On3's industry ranking, Jackson was considered the No. 174 player in the country, the No. 39 shooting guard and the No. 18 prospect in the state of Florida. It is unknown how his rankings would stack up against the rest of the class of 2024 field.

The 6-3, 180-pound guard from Sarasota, FL. originally committed to Texas Tech and signed his national letter of intent Nov. 15, 2022, but then was released and decommitted from the Red Raiders after Grant McClasland was hired as their new head coach after Mark Adams' suspension and resignation for using racially insensitive comments.
