After finishing his fifth season as an assistant under coach Bruce Pearl, Auburn assistant basketball coach Wes Flanigan is leaving his alma mater to join the staff at Ole Miss as first reported by Auburn Live.

During his five seasons under Pearl, Flanigan helped the Tigers win an SEC title, make the Final Four, win two SEC regular season championships, and make three NCAA Tournament appearances.

Flanigan played at Auburn from 1993 to 1997, starting all four seasons at point guard.

Flanigan has served on several coaching staffs since his collegiate playing career ended, most recently as the head coach at Little Rock from 2016 to 2018 before joining the Tigers.

He was able to coach his son, Allen, over his last four seasons with the Tigers, and is 1-0 as an interim coach there. He coached the Tigers’ blowout win over Nebraska in Atlanta in December of 2021 while Pearl served a self-imposed suspension.

During his playing days, Flanigan registered 573 assists, second all-time in the Tigers' record books, and he's fourth in career free throws with 338 makes.

He finished first in the SEC in assists in 1996 with 214 total, averaging 6.7 per game.

Flanigan was named All-SEC in 1996 as a junior and made the All-SEC Freshman Team in 1994.
