OXFORD, Miss. -- The Week 5 matchup between the No. 16 Ole Miss Rebels and No. 23 LSU Tigers is a rivalry game that will be remembered for a long time by college football fans, as it was easily one of the most electric chapters in the history of the Magnolia Bowl.

Ole Miss came back in the fourth quarter to upset LSU 55-49 in front of the largest crowd ever recorded in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, and Lane Kiffin picked up his first signature SEC victory with the Rebels

Unfortunately, this thrilling college football matchup may also be remembered for an unsavory statement made by one of the TV commentators.

ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III was calling the game between Ole Miss and LSU with play-by-play announcer Bob Wischusen and is currently taking heat from fans and members of the media alike for making an interesting reference to Jesus.

"They lifted that man up to the sky like he was Jesus letting him know they were going to put him on the cross right there," Griffin said after the Ole Miss defense brought down Jayden Daniels late in the fourth quarter.

Griffin more than likely meant no ill intent, as he is not shy about his devotion to Christianity, but some viewers were still demanding an apology from the former Heisman Trophy winner.

"This should require an apology," Barrett Sallee of CBS Sports tweeted. "ASAP."

Griffin has not yet addressed his controversial comment, so we will have to wait and see if he issues an apology. Griffin has been an NFL and college football analyst for ESPN for the last two years.
