Is Ole Miss Transfer Target WR Zakhari Franklin A 'Silent' Rebels Commit?
Zakhari Franklin is the best wide receiver in UTSA Roadrunners program history.
He is the program's record holder for the most single-game, single-season and career receptions, the highest single-season and career receiving yardage and the most single-season and career touchdowns catches — he is tied for the most single-game scores — in Roadrunners program history.
If there's a receiving record to be broken, he's likely to have broken it. However, the days of being a Roadrunner are behind him and now he is in the transfer portal and supposedly heavily linked to joining the Ole Miss Rebels for 2023.
"Ole Miss is after Zakhari Franklin — the 6-foot, 190-pound dynamic wide receiver out of Texas (at) San Antonio," Inside the Rebels' David Johnson said. "What we're hearing right now — little academic hurdle he's got to get over before he comes to Ole Miss. But the rumor in Oxford is he's a silent commit."
Johnson and 247Sports' Chris Hummer both gave Franklin Rebels crystal ball projections on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
Franklin would be a big get for the 2023 receiving corps as head coach Lane Kiffin looks to replace Jonathan Mingo and Malik Heath.
The Rebels have already picked up transfer wide receivers Louisiana Tech's Tre Harris and Texas A&M's Chris Marshall, but the latter was dismissed from the program.
Franklin would immediately contend for the No. 1 pass-catching option for next year's quarterback.
