Rebels Fall Camp Defensive Two-Deep Depth Chart Projection
OXFORD, Miss. -- College football is back as the Ole Miss Rebels finished their first day of fall camp on Wednesday. While there is no denying that Lane Kiffin's offense is talented entering the 2023 season, the defensive side of the ball remains undecided with a new system under Pete Golding.
Kiffin has been high on his new defensive coordinator hire, but what might the depth chart look like for the first game of the season? The Grove Report took a shot at predicting how Ole Miss' depth chart will look after fall camp - continuing with defense:
Defensive End
Cedric Johnson
Jakivuan Brown
Cedric Johnson is a veteran at Ole Miss, and he was one of the players who represented the Rebels at SEC Media Days in July. Johnson (as well as much of the defense) is optimistic about the changes brought to the defensive side of the ball by Pete Golding entering this season.
Defensive Line
Joshua Harris
Stephon Wynn Jr.
Defensive Line
J.J. Pegues
Jamond Gordon
Pegues is a hometown kid, although he did transfer to Ole Miss from the Auburn Tigers earlier in his career. The defensive lineman has voiced his approval of new defensive coordinator Pete Golding this season as well, commenting on his improvements during spring practice.
Defensive Line
Jared Ivey
Isaac Ukwu
Ivey and Ukwu have both been graded highly as defensive returners by Pro Football Focus, and their addition on the defensive line will be huge for Golding's efforts this season.
Middle Linebacker
Monty Montgomery
Ashanti Cistrunk
Montgomery and Cistrunk will likely be strong options in the Ole Miss front seven, and Montgomery has already gained hype after transferring in from the Louisville Cardinals this offseason.
Outside Linebacker
Khari Coleman
Jeremiah Jean-Baptiste
Both of these names are transfer additions to the Rebels' roster. Coleman came to Ole Miss from the TCU Horned Frogs, and in his freshman season, Coleman exploded onto the scene, making 33 total tackles, 15 tackles for loss, and three sacks in nine games.
Jean-Baptiste is a transfer from the UCF Knights, and he put together some impressive numbers at his former school. You can read more about what he brings to the table here.
Cornerback
Deantre Prince
Richard O'Bryant
Prince, like Cedric Johnson, represented Ole Miss at SEC Media Days, and he spoke about his role as a veteran on this defense this season.
"I'm a veteran now, so I feel like it's my duty," Prince said. "If someone comes in as a transfer, I feel like it's my job to collect fun activities for them on the weekend so we can get know each other as a defense and as a team."
Cornerback
Zamari Walton
DeShawn Gaddie Jr.
Strong Safety
Ladarius Tennison
Teja Young
Free Safety
Isheem Young
Daijahn Anthony
Defensive Back
John Saunders Jr.
Justin Hodges
