SOURCE: 'No Question Anymore' That Jaxson Dart is QB1 For Ole Miss
OXFORD, Miss. -- It has long been speculated, but a source with knowledge of the situation commented to The Grove Report this week that "it's not a question anymore" that Jaxson Dart is the starting quarterback of the Ole Miss Rebels.
While there has been no official word from Lane Kiffin or the Ole Miss program, it has been often been reported that Jaxson Dart was taking the majority of first-team reps at quarterback during spring and fall camp, and Kiffin himself has said that Dart has vastly improved under center from the 2022 season.
Dart was fine for the Rebels a season ago, throwing for nearly 3,000 yards and 20 touchdowns paired with 11 interceptions, but the arrival of transfers Spencer Sanders (Oklahoma State) and Walker Howard (LSU) cast doubt on his ability to hold onto the starting spot this fall. Apparently, however, Dart's progression as a quarterback paired with Sanders' injury during spring football put him ahead of the other candidates, and, if this source is correct, he will be QB1 for the Rebels once again in 2023.
The Rebels will open their season at home against the Mercer Bears this Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
