OXFORD, Miss. -- Joseph Cryer, a three-star 2024 offensive lineman out of Louisiana, announced his decommitment from the Ole Miss Rebels on Sunday after holding his commitment for over a month.

Cryer originally committed to Ole Miss on June 3. According to On3's recruitment database, he is rated as the No. 32 player in the state of Louisiana and No. 81 interior offensive lineman in the 2024 cycle. The 6-foot-4, 290-pound lineman was in Oxford that weekend for his third official visit as he was previously at Ole Miss on April 4 and April 29.

What could have played a role in his decommitment, however, is that he earned an offer from the LSU Tigers recently as well. He provided quotes to On3 after his offer, specifically on the Tigers' offensive line coach Brad Davis.

"Been waiting on it, I’m excited," Cryer said. "Means a lot being an in-state guy. I’ve been to LSU already. I just can’t wait to chop it up with Coach Davis."

First-year Ole Miss offensive line coach John Garrison offered Cryer in March. The Many, La., native committed to the Rebels over programs including the Mississippi State Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, Arkansas Razorbacks, TCU Horned Frogs, Missouri Tigers, Oklahoma State Cowboys, and Memphis Tigers. Cryer was Ole Miss' first offensive line commitment of this cycle.

Cryer, nicknamed "Big Hoss", is set to play his final season of high school football at Natchitoches Central High School in 2023.
