Rebels Land Commitment From In-State Safety Shamaar Darden
OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Rebels continued to be hot on the recruiting trail on Monday, landing a commitment from 2024 safety Shamaar Darden out of Tupelo (Miss.) High School.
Darden made his announcement official on social media on Monday, tweeting a graphic of himself in an Ole Miss uniform.
In two seasons of stats available on Darden, he has accumulated 78 total tackles while with the Tupelo Golden Wave, including 49 solo tackles as a junior last season. He follows another safety commitment for the Rebels earlier this week in the form of Anthony Robinson, and Ole Miss also recently flipped the commitment of safety Andy Jaffe from Wake Forest.
Ole Miss was one of the few power schools who pursued Darden, fending off offers from Jacksonville State, Southern Miss, UTSA and Texas State on the recruiting trail. In total, Darden is Lane Kiffin's 16th commitment of the 2024 class, one that now is ranked No. 20 nationally by On3.
Darden marks the fourth safety commit for the Rebels in this class.
