Colorado Star Travis Hunter Likely Out vs. No. 10 Oregon Ducks

Hunter was taken to the hospital after taking a late hit against Colorado State last week.

There's already a ton of buzz and anticipation around this week's showdown between No. 10 Oregon and No. 19 Colorado.

But it looks like the Buffaloes will be without their best player when they travel to Eugene's Autzen Stadium.

Wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter was taken to the hospital on Saturday after he took a late hit from Colorado State defensive back Henry Blackburn in the Buffs' 43-35 overtime win.

Head Coach Deion Sanders provided an update on the status of his star player following the game.

"First thing I heard (is) that he would be out for a few weeks," Sanders told reporters. "I heard that for sure. But we're gonna do what we gotta do to take care of him. I know Travis, he's probably gonna want to be out for two weeks, but his health is more important than this game."

Hunter was doing it all for the Buffaloes early on, starring on both sides of the ball as a cornerback and wide receiver. Through three games this season he recorded 9 total tackles, 1 interception and 2 pass breakups on defense, and 16 receptions for 213 yards on offense.

The Buffaloes' offense was able to pull out the win on Saturday thanks to some late-game heroics from junior quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who threw the game-winning touchdown pass to Michael Harrison in overtime. Sanders finished the day completing 38 of his 47 passes for 348 yards and 4 touchdowns to go against 1 interception.

If Hunter indeed doesn't suit up on Saturday, fans won't get to see the one of the most highly-anticipated matchups of the season.

The do-it-all Jackson State transfer was expected to line up across from Oregon's No. 1 wide receiver Troy Franklin, a preseason Biletnikoff award watch list selection who's caught 17 passes for 292 yards and 3 touchdowns in three games this season.
