Former Oregon Cornerback Darren Barkins Announces Transfer Destination

Former Oregon cornerback Darren Barkins has committed to the Washington Huskies. 

Barkins entered the transfer portal on April 26 after playing in 12 games during his two seasons in Eugene and recorded three total tackles. 

He signed with the Ducks as a three-star (0.8719 per 247Sports Composite) recruit in the 2021 class out of Chula Vista (Calif.) Mater Dei Catholic. Barkins was ranked the No. 649 player nationally, the No. 55 cornerback and the No. 53 player in California. 

The 5-foot-9, 170-pound defensive back is the fifth defensive back to transfer from Oregon this offseason, joining Jalil Tucker (San Diego State), Avante DickersonTrejon Williams and Jonathan Flowe.

Oregon added a five defensive backs this offseason from the transfer portal in Evan Williams (Fresno State), Tysheem Johnson (Ole Miss), Khyree Jackson (Alabama) and Nikko Reed (Colorado). The Ducks also added a number of talented corners from the high school ranks, highlighted by a trio of All-Americans in Rodrick Pleasant, Daylen Austin and Cole Martin.
