Oregon Finishes No. 6 in Final AP Poll of 2023-2024 Season
The sun set on the 2023 college football season in Houston on Monday, as the Michigan Wolverines capped off a perfect season, going 15-0 and defeating the Washington Huskies 34-13 to capture their first national championship since 1997.
Oregon may not have made the college football playoff, but this season was still a step in the right direction for Dan Lanning in Eugene. The Ducks finished the year with a 12-2 record after a 45-6 win over the Liberty Flames in the Fiesta Bowl.
Quarterback Bo Nix was a Heisman Trophy finalist, year one of the Will Stein offense was a massive success, and Oregon's defense improved in nearly every facet.
While the Ducks are set to lose a number of their best players, headlined by Nix, to the 2024 NFL Draft, they're also welcoming back some elite talent like defensive end Jordan Burch, All-Pac-12 linebacker Jeffrey Bassa and a promising young cornerback in Jahlil Florence.
Attention now turns to Oregon's debut season in the Big Ten, with conference play slated to begin on September 28 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena against Chip Kelly and the UCLA Bruins.
