Brayden Platt, 4-Star Linebacker, Places Oregon Ducks in Top Schools

Brayden Platt is no stranger to Eugene and the Ducks have a great shot at landing his commitment.
In this story:

Oregon is looking for depth at linebacker in spring football following the departure of Keith Brown over the weekend.

Dan Lanning and Tosh Lupoi are looking all over the country for the next great Oregon linebacker, but they didn't have to go far to find one of their top targets in 2024 Yelm (Wash.) linebacker Brayden Platt.

Platt announced his top eight schools on Tuesday and the Ducks made the cut.

The other schools included in Platt's updated top group include Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, UCLA and USC. The in-state Washington Huskies, a top Oregon rival, did not make the cut.

Platt's recruiting stock has risen once again this year, with offers from Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Notre Dame and USC all coming since January.

He's rated a four-star (0.9114) recruit on the 247Sports Composite. The same system ranks him the No. 262 recruit nationally, the No. 24 linebacker and the No. 5 player in Washington.

The Washington standout took a trip to Oregon in January and raved about the energy of Dan Lanning's staff.

"I love the energy that they bring," Platt said after the trip. "You can tell who they are straight up, it's not like they're putting on a front. Those two (Lupoi and Long) especially are football nerds and it's great to be around."

The Ducks replaced Jake Long with Brian Michalowski to coach the inside linebackers, but Dan Lanning and Tosh Lupoi have continued to keep Oregon strongly in the mix.

Platt doesn't have a commitment date, but wants to enroll early at his school of choice. Other names to keep an eye on at linebacker for the Ducks in the 2024 class include Dylan Williams, Justin Williams and Kamar Mothudi.
