Oregon is going after four main running backs in the 2024 recruiting class and one of them just locked in his official visit with the Ducks.

Washington, D.C. St. John's College running back Da'Jaun Riggs will take his official visit with Oregon on June 23.

The 5-foot-10, 200-pound ballcarrier spoke with Ducks Digest about the latest in his recruitment, and raved about his relationship with Carlos Locklyn.

"My relationship with Coach Lock-- tight. I love Coach Lock," Riggs said. "He's more of a gospel coach. I'm raised around a religious family, so gospel is really important to me. When I met Coach Lock I didn't even come to school that day, he FaceTimed and we talked for a minute.

"When I came down, I think it was March 16, it was probably one of the best visits I probably ever had. And I went to plenty of other visits before I came down to Oregon."

What made his last trip to Eugene so special?

"They weren't throwing a lot of fake shots, they were keeping it real with me. Letting me know what I need to do to get to the next level and how we're gonna approach this situation moving on. Just being out there playing basketball with them, it was just a good time."

The talented running back also spoke highly of his interactions with the Ducks' head coach.

"And then meeting Coach Lanning for the first time was also amazing because he kept it real with me. He basically told me what it is up there is family and without family you can't be nothing in life. So when he told me that it was very important too because at home family is an extremely big deal."

Genuine relationships are part of what stands out the most about Oregon.

"Something that stood out to me is coaches, the love, the support," he said. "Something that I'm looking forward to, if I ever come to Oregon I just want to be a dominant running back. I want to be that guy. I want to be Bucky (Irving). I want to be out there and be as electrifying as I can be if I was to come and be a Duck."

The Ducks have prioritized the DMV area in 2024 with the likes of quarterback Michael Van Buren and cornerback Ify Obidegwu. Two players Riggs already has a connection with.

"You know what's crazy? All those 2024 commits Ify, Michael, I grew up with them. We played little league football together. I've known those guys since I was a pup. Just relationship-wise I have a tight relationship. I still talk to them to this day."

Aside from Oregon, the Washington, D.C. product has official visits scheduled to three other schools.

"I leave for Pitt June 1-3. I leave for Minnesota June 8-11 and I leave for Wisconsin June 16-18."

Riggs offered more detail on his interest in Minnesota.

"Coach Nic (McKissic-Luke), the running back coach. As soon as he got the job at Minnesota he reached out to me. We sat on the phone for a cool 30-45 minutes and he showed a lot of love. He loves my game. When he came down to the school we kind of connected, had great conversation."

The Wisconsin Badgers will also get an official and Devon Spalding is keeping them in the hunt.

"I met coach Spalding when he got up there. As soon as he got the job position--not even within 30 minutes he called me and gave me an offer from Wisconsin. It was kind of a blessing because it was so random because I never thought I'd get an offer from Wisconsin."

When can we expect a decision from Riggs?

"Probably after all my visits," he said. "Later in June or around June."
