Florida Edge Rusher Solomon Williams Reveals Top Five Schools
Things are continuing to heat up for Oregon football on the recruiting trail.
Just a day after five-star defensive lineman Aydin Breland placed the Ducks in his final three, another top recruit has Oregon among his top schools.
On Thursday morning, Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day edge rusher Solomon Williams placed Oregon in his top five schools.
The other schools in the running for one of Florida's finest include the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Texas Longhorns, the Texas A&M Aggies and the Clemson Tigers.
Williams is listed at 6'3" and weighs 235 pounds. He's rated a four-star (0.9058) recruit according to the 247Sports Composite. The same system ranks him the No. 294 player nationally, the No. 21 edge rusher and the No. 41 recruit in the state of Florida.
Thursday's news continues to solidify that the Ducks have solid momentum in their pursuit of Williams. Just last week, he scheduled an official visit to Oregon for next week when Dan Lanning and his squad welcome Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes to Autzen Stadium.
Dan Lanning has made it a priority to win in the trenches, especially on defense, and that was on display last week in Oregon's 38-30 win over Texas Tech, when the Ducks sacked Red Raiders quarterback Tyler Shough four times.
Oregon has a good defensive line haul already in their 2024 class. Yuma (Ariz.) Catholic edge rusher Jaxson Jones is a top-ten talent in his state, Durant (Okla.) defensive lineman Xadavien Sims is the No. 1 player in Oklahoma, and St. Louis (Mo.) Hazelwood Central defensive lineman Tionne Gray looks college ready as a senior standing at 6'6", 295 pounds.
Dan Lanning has been all about going from good to great in the months leading up to the 2023 season, and a commitment from Williams would definitely take Oregon's defensive line haul in the 2024 cycle to great.
