Kansas State Safety Kobe Savage Visiting Oregon This Weekend, Per Report
Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks continue to stay busy looking at their options in the transfer portal.
After landing a commitment from Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel over the weekend, Kansas State safety Kobe Savage is expected to visit Oregon this weekend, according to a report from Pete Nakos of On3 Sports.
Nakos also reports that Savage will take a visit the Washington Huskies while he's out on the West Coast.
Savage has one year of eligibility remaining and spent the last two years with the Wildcats after coming from Tyler Junior College in his home state of Texas.Â
The 5-foot-11, 207-pound defensive back finished his two seasons in Manhattan with 66 total tackles, 3 interceptions, 3 pass breakups and 4.5 tackles for loss.Â
Chris Hampton and the Ducks have a glaring need at safety, as they're set to lose Steve Stephens IV and Evan Williams, who will exhaust their eligibility following the 2023 season, and Bryan Addison, who will transfer to UCLA.
Tysheem Johnson, who transferred in from Ole Miss ahead of this year, could be the only returning starter after snagging a pair of interceptions in his first season with the Ducks.
Savage isn't the only defensive back the Ducks are going after in the transfer portal, as former Clemson safety Andrew Mukuba is also set to visit Oregon this week, along with UCLA quarterback Dante Moore.
Oregon currently has two verbal commitments from safeties in the 2024 class in Adidas All-American selection Aaron Flowers from Forney (Tex.) and Kingston Lopa from Sacramento (Calif.) Grant Union.Â
