Nate Frazier, Priority Oregon RB Target, Locks in Oregon Official Visit

The Ducks are still looking for their first running back commitment this recruiting cycle.
In this story:

There are a lot of big names expected to come through Eugene for visits this month and another just locked in a trip with the Ducks.

2024 Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei running back Nate Frazier will take an official visit to Oregon on June 16-18, he told Ducks Digest.

Frazier is the No. 2-rated running back on the West Coast and is rated a four-star (0.9585) recruit by the 247Sports Composite. The same system ranks him the No. 76 recruit nationally, the No. 5 running back and the No. 9 recruit in California.

The highly-coveted running back has seen multiple programs this past spring and into the summer and it looks like there could be a bit of clarity in his recruitment as he works from 24 reported scholarship offers.

Aside from Oregon, Frazier will also see Alabama on an official visit on June 23 according to 247Sports' Greg Biggins. Before those trips though, he'll see Texas A&M as well as Georgia on unofficials.

Frazier has not set a top group of schools and does not have a decision timeline. Carlos Locklyn and Oregon are also pursuing the likes of Jason Brown Jr., the No. 1-rated back on the West Coast, Christian Clark from Phoenix (Ariz.) Mountain Pointe and Da'Jaun Riggs from Washington D.C.

Brown was on campus in Eugene last month, and both Clark and Riggs will take their official visits with the Ducks in June.

Torres' Take

Frazier is one of biggest names on Oregon's big board here in the 2024 class. For Carlos Locklyn though, he's THE name he's pursuing this cycle. I've spoken with Frazier numerous times since the Ducks offered back in the fall and I continue to feel great about Oregon's chances.

That said, he hasn't tipped his hand too much and hasn't named a leader. From what I've been able to gather this looks like it's shaping into an Oregon vs. Alabama battle. I don't have any reason to bet against Carlos Locklyn, but when Alabama and Nick Saban come calling, you're going to listen.

I still think this is a recruit that Oregon can close on, it's just a matter of seeing what his timeline is looking like for a decision. There's a bit of overlap here, as Alabama and Georgia are also recruiting Jason Brown Jr., while Georgia is also recruiting Christian Clark.

I'm going to continue to feel confident about the Ducks' chances until I'm told otherwise.
