Oregon Among Schools Standing out Early for Jae'on Young
There are a lot of exciting players that I've seen this season in Southern California, but one that always catches my attention is 2025 Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon athlete Jae'on Young.
The 5-foot-11, 165-pounder helped lead the Trailblazers to a 40-6 win over the Orange Lutheran Lancers last week.
"I felt great. Just a team win right there," Young told Ducks Digest after Friday's game at Orange Coast College. "It was just an amazing win on both sides of the ball. I couldn't be more happy with me and my team."

Young is continuing to add schools to his offer sheet after his latest one came the from Kansas Jayhawks. They're one of a handful of schools he's hearing from the most.
"I'm talking to Kansas a lot," he said. "Oregon, they just reached out. Coach Meat, the DB coach he's reached out to me.
"I've been staying in contact with USC a ton. They've been showing me a lot of love. Also Washington, they've been hitting me up a lot."
Cornerbacks coach Demetrice Martin has always made his native Southern California a priority, and Young holds Oregon in high regard.
"They still hold a lot of weight with my recruitment. Coach Meat, he took a shot on me since I was ninth, going into my tenth grade year, that means a lot to me. He's seen the things I was able to do younger and just (to) be able to know that I could get up there and he could develop me.
"He's been all around the Pac-12 and that's just a big blessing to be able to have a coach like that recruiting me."
Washington is another school that's made a strong early impression on Young. There's some familiarity there thanks to a prior trip out to Seattle.
"I really like them. I like the scheme of their defense," he said. "I went up there for a practice, it's pretty similar, what they do at practice to what we do in practice. The DB coach, Coach Juice (Julius Brown), he's a real amazing coach, he teaches some great things. Also what my coach teaches. The similarity there is just amazing, knowing that I could go there an be comfortable is just great."

Moving forward Young has one trip scheduled and a few schools that he'd like to get out to.
"I plan on getting up to Washington on October 14 when they play against Oregon. That'll be at their home, but I'm excited to see what Oregon does, what they come with and what Washington is bringing back to them.
"And I want to get back up to Oregon really soon, as well as SC because SC's just right around the corner from me, so checking out them is easy and they're a great team. Cal also, I've been talking to them a lot recently. They want me to get up there for a game so that won't be hard to make either."
He has a solid feel of what he's looking for in a school as he gets back out on the road for visits this season.
"I'm really prioritizing the scheme of the defense. Also the environment, the place that I'll be able to go to and I know I'll be able to focus and a place that just really feels like home for me. Just be able to get up to a place that I feel is home for me and fits my play style."
The dynamic athlete wrapped up the interview by letting colleges know about the type of player and young man they're recruiting.
"Just know that whoever recruits me, just know that y'all are gonna get a dog for sure. I'm a real confident guy, a high class guy. A guy that'll come in and I feel like impact the program. I always show love to every single fanbase and just a real exciting guy."
