Oregon Football 2024 Recruiting Hot Board: Wide Receiver

Junior Adams and the Ducks are pursuing more elite pass catchers for the Oregon offense.
In this story:

Wide receiver is fun to watch again for Oregon football fans now that the days of a Mario Cristobal ground-and-pound offense are long gone.

Troy Franklin made his case as one of the best wide receivers in college football with a breakout season for the Ducks in 2022.

Now Junior Adams is working to add more elite talent to his room in the 2024 class after adding four talented wideouts in the 2023 cycle. Transfers Traeshon Holden and Tez Johnson are enrolled and 2023 signee Ashton Cozart is going through spring practice. Jurrion Dickey is expected to join the team in the summer.

Today we're taking a look at some of the other names to know for Oregon recruiting at wide receiver.

*Note*: Oregon already has two wide receiver commitments in the 2024 class in Jordan Anderson and Tyseer Denmark.

Malachi Durant (Graham, WA)

Bryant is the top wide receiver in Washington and has been linked to Oregon for a while. Right now it's looking like mainly three teams are involved with Oregon, Oregon State and UCLA the main contenders.

Xavier Jordan (Chatsworth, CA)

Xavier Jordan is one of the top wide receivers in California and he's absolutely blown up since the turn of the calendar year. A move from Cathedral to Sierra Canyon for his senior season should make the Trailblazers one of the more dangerous offenses in Southern California.

Oregon offered him during a visit out in Eugene and looks to be in a good position but Lincoln Riley and USC aren't going to make this one easy as a top skill player from the Los Angeles area. An offer from Oklahoma in February makes it look like this will become an increasingly national recruitment before long.

Ryan Pellum (Long Beach, CA)

Pellum is related to long-time Oregon linebackers coach Don Pellum and as such he has strong ties to the Ducks.

He was teammates with Jordan Anderson when the two were both at Millikan and it looks like the Ducks are staying involved here. Pellum has offers from everywhere in the country, which means the Ducks will have to beat out blue bloods if they want to earn his commitment.

It feels like there's a long way to go in this recruitment but Pellum has the Ducks in his top 10 schools.

Jeremiah McClellan (St. Louis, MO)

McClellan is another elite wide receiver prospect in the 2024 class. He's been taking off on the recruiting trail this spring with offers from Georgia, TCU and Florida highlighting his list.

Fortunately for the Ducks he made it out to Eugene for a visit in January, which allowed them to show him the vision Will Stein has for the offense before some really big offers came in. Perhaps also aiding Oregon is the fact that they recruited one of his former teammates in 2023 running back Jeremiyah Love out of Christian Brothers, so they've already built strong connections to the school.

Gatlin Bair (Burley, ID)

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound receiver is the top-rated recruit out of the state of Idaho. The Ducks signed the state's top player in the previous cycle, Kenyon Sadiq, so there's some familiarity with the state.

Bair is starting to gain more traction nationally with offers from Florida, Wisconsin and UCLA coming in March. He has the Ducks in his top 11 and could be an intriguing option worth a closer look if some of the other players on this board don't pan out.

David Washington (Las Vegas, NV)

Washington stands at 6-feet tall and weighs 185 pounds as one of the top recruits in Nevada this cycle. Las Vegas is a city that's developing into more of a recruiting hotbed out West outside of just Bishop Gorman, where the Ducks signed safety Kodi DeCambra in 2023.

Washington has the Ducks in his top 11 and has taken recent visits to Cal and UNLV. Offers from Notre Dame, Miami, LSU and Michigan prove he's a highly-coveted playmaker that college coaches want in their offense.
