Oregon Signee Rodrick Pleasant Runs California Record 10.09 in 100 Meters
Oregon Ducks cornerback signee Rodrick Pleasant has a thing for setting records.
Last season he ran a 10.14 100 meters in the spring, which set the state record.
Over the weekend the future Duck set another record, running the 100 meters in 10.09 seconds with a 3.3 mph wind, shaving more off of his already blazing fast record time.
Pleasant earned Under Armour All-American status during his high school football career but has generated just as much if not more buzz for his ability on the track.
He's the perfect example of the premium Dan Lanning has placed on speed when it comes to recruiting. Fellow cornerback signee Daylen Austin from Long Beach (Calif.) Poly also ran track during his high school career, and their speed will be welcomed in Oregon's cornerback room and maybe even in the return game.
Pleasant is expected to enroll at the University of Oregon with the rest of the 2023 recruiting class that has yet to arrive in Eugene, including five-star wide receiver Jurrion Dickey as well as defensive lineman A'Mauri Washington and cornerback Collin Gill among others.
The Oregon coaching staff is staying active in Pleasant's hometown of Los Angeles, recruiting a number of talented players including his former Serra teammate, cornerback Dakoda Fields, who placed Oregon in his top seven schools on Sunday. Demetrice Martin was at Serra's showcase last week to see both Pleasant and Fields and is one of the main reasons the Ducks are near the front of his recruitment and will get an official visit next month along with USC and Miami.
