Oregon WR Commit Jordan Anderson Excited to Get Back to Eugene for Official Visit
Oregon's 2024 recruiting class is in the top ten nationally.
While the Ducks lost a commitment from Tyseer Denmark on Sunday, a top wide receiver commit is still locked in.
Newport Beach (Calif.) Newport Harbor wide receiver Jordan Anderson has helped the Ducks recruit multiple top targets this cycle and Ducks Digest checked in with him at the OT7 championship tournament in Huntington Beach this week.
"Everything's going good," Anderson said. "I'm still committed so that's a blessing. Just living it day by day."
The Ducks had a big month on the recruiting trail in May and are off to a great start in June after landing quarterback Michael Van Buren. Now Anderson is turning his recruiting attention to a fellow wide receiver.
"We going crazy. All I can say, I told people Mike was gonna come in. People doubted me, but I was able to pull Mike in," he said. "J-Mac (Jeremiah McClellan), I'm working on it."
McCellan, an All-American from St. Louis, will take his official visit to Oregon next weekend alongside Anderson, who thinks the Ducks can get the job done.
"I think our official visit will solidify the deal with J-Mac. That's a great receiver right there. I'd love for him to play next to me. We're doing our thing and we just got my boy White Mamba (Jack Ressler). He's a guy."
Van Buren is in the fold now, but it wasn't always easy for the two to connect.
"At first it was hard to get in contact with Mike. He was a little famous guy, but we went to that visit and we just connected from there. I let him know I need a QB that can get me the ball--come in, let's work every day, just do everything together and he was basically with that."
The crafty wideout spoke more about how he's approaching recruiting McClellan.
"Me and J-Mac are close. Same off the visit, we connected off the visit. Me, him and Mike. We all were talking, we're hoping J-Mac comes home. We're not rushing him, we're letting him enjoy his recruiting process cause everybody's gotta go through it. But the message to him is just come home. Who wouldn't want to play for the Nike brand?"
What's his message to other recruits on why they should come to Oregon?
"The brand of course. That's one thing. Coach Dan Lanning and Coach Junior Adams, they're two outstanding coaches outside of football. They really take care of the kids on and off the football field."
Oregon has a chance to make the 2024 class truly special if they can add some of their top targets visiting next weekend along with Anderson and he spoke about his mindset going into the trip.
"It's most definitely fun but I'm on my recruiting hat," he said. "I'm trying to bring my boy J-Mac home as well as a couple of more receivers that's on the trip. It's really a recruiting trip, but we're going to have fun as well. The main thing is always having fun."
The Inglewood native is one of three wide receivers Junior Adams has earned verbal commitments from and the two continue to have a strong relationship.
"Coach Adams is like an uncle to me. I'm able to send him my clips every day. He reacts to them. He gives me tips on what I need to do better and what I could have done better.
"It's always having that good relationship with your coach, knowing what you're going to get yourself into in college. I know I'm going into college with a good coach and a coach that cares for his players."
Anderson likes that the Ducks have continued to make him feel like a priority.
"I just want to thank the Oregon staff for still recruiting me like I'm uncommitted. They're really treating me like family and I'm ready to get down there as soon as I can."
