Evaluation

One thing that coaches love to see on tape is their player’s giving 110% each play and that's exactly what Wilson did for his team. Being 6-foot-5, 285 pounds comes with a huge advantage that he utilizes very well.

From the initial contact on the defender to driving him into the ground 15 yards down the field, Wilson displays that elite offensive lineman talent all through his film. Even if a defender runs at him full speed it's like hitting a brick wall.

His run blocking is scary good, specifically how fast he gets to his blocking assignment  and even sneaks an additional block in from time to time. He plays with good leverage as the low man on his blocks, allowing him to easily drive through his opponent.

Pass blocking is just as good at his guard position. If no one comes his way his head is moving everywhere to find someone free to defend his quarterback.

The recruitment, how it happened

Wilson first began to see offers come his way towards the end of his junior year and leading into his senior year during the spring from 2022. His first few offers included USF, Rhode Island and Kentucky.

Oregon would offer around the same time in January 2022 as his fourth offer. After getting himself a few more offers under his belt the Lakeland star began to take a few visits.

He took unofficial visits to Florida, FAU, Auburn and FSU between March and July of 2022. Wilson then took an official visit to Auburn in September and committed to the Tigers three days later.

After a few months the lineman would de-commit from Auburn in October. Wilson took a visit out to Eugene on November 20 and committed three days later and signed during early signing period. He's currently enrolled on campus for the Ducks.

Outlook at Oregon

Oregon has some holes to fill at offensive line with a few key starters exhausting their eligibility and pursing the NFL. The Oregon offensive line was one of the best in the nation in both pass and run blocking.

Wilson joins an impressive new group which signed five offensive linemen from the prep level and two in the transfer portal. A few names coming back to Eugene for next season include Marcus Harper II, Steven Jones, Josh Conerly Jr., and Jackson Powers-Johnson.

The list of returning players have enough skill to fill those open gaps on the line next season but the younger guys can make for great competition. Oregon lost their offensive line coach Adrian Klemm to the NFL but quickly hired A’lique Terry to fill the role.

Wilson has enough size and natural ability to make some early noise and could earn some quick playing time. Participating in spring practice should aid his development.
