Penn State Adds Top Linebacker Prospect to 2025 Recruiting Class
Penn State added one of Pennsylvania's top linebackers to its 2025 recruiting class Sunday, as 4-star prospect Alex Tatsch committed to the Nittany Lions. Tatsch joins a Penn State football recruiting class that already is well stocked with western Pennsylvania prospects.
Tatsch, the state's ninth-ranked prospect according to the 247Sports Composite, became the fourth western Pennsylvania player to join the Penn State football 2025 class. Tatsch plays for Greater Latrobe High, where he was a first-team, all-state player as a junior and named to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Fabulous 22. Tatsch (6-3, 210) played running back and linebacker for Greater Latrobe and is considered a standout defensive prospect, having made 79 tackles, four sacks and four interceptions last season.
Tatsch chose Penn State from an offer sheet that included USC, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Pitt and more. USC coach Lincoln Riley recently visited Tatsch at the school.
Tatsch became the ninth commit in Penn State's 2025 recruiting class, four of whom are from western Pennsylvania. All four rank in the top 20 of Pennsylvania prospects, according to the 247Sports Composite. The group includes tight end Brady O'Hara of North Catholic, ranked No. 7 in Pennsylvania according to the 247Sports Composite.
Penn State's 2025 class ranks sixth nationally, according to 247Sports, and No. 2 in the Big Ten. Coach James Franklin signed the No. 14 class in 2014, which included five of Pennsylvania's top 10 players.
