About the Penn State Nittany Lions

Penn State fell to 12th in the latest College Football Playoff rankings after a 24-15 loss to Michigan. The Nittany Lions seek their second consecutive 10-2 regular season and fifth under Franklin. Penn State's offense has been the key story of the season. The Lions averaged 43.8 points per game in their eight wins but just 13.5 in their losses to Ohio State and Michigan. As a result, Franklin made a change this week, firing Yurcich with two games remaining. Running backs coach Ja'Juan Seider and tight ends coach Ty Howle will serve as co-coordinators for the remainder of the season.

About the Rutgers Scarlet Knights

Fourth-year coach Greg Schiano got Rutgers off to a good start, as the team won four of its first five games. But the Scarlet Knights have lost two straight and three of their last five and are playing their third ranked opponent in a row. Rutgers arrives at Beaver Stadium following losses to Ohio State (35-16) and Iowa (22-0). The shutout loss was Rutgers' first of the season. Despite ranking fifth in the Big Ten in scoring (24.1 ppg), the Scarlet Knights have scored just 16 total points the past two weeks. Running back Kyle Monangai leads the Big Ten in rushing yards (942) but has played hurt the past few weeks. His status for Saturday's game will be made public as part of the pregame availability report.
