Penn State returned to Florida for its latest prospect of the 2024 recruiting class, as offensive lineman Deryc Plazz announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions. Plazz made his announcement Sunday following an official-visit weekend at Penn State. A 3-start prospect according to the 247Sports Composite, Plazz is the third player from the Jacksonville area to commit to Penn State's 2024 class. He joins defensive backs Jon Mitchell and Antoine Belgrave-Shorter, who are teammates at Mandarin High. Plazz plays at Jackson High, where he is among the top 100 players in Florida, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Plazz, among the nation's top 75 offensive tackles according to 247Sports, chose Penn State from an offer sheet that included Florida State, Duke, North Carolina State and Miami. He also had official visits scheduled to Miami and Duke.

Penn State is pursuing offensive linemen aggressively in this class. Plazz is the sixth lineman in the 2024 class, several of whom rank among the top 10 nationally at their positions. The group includes Donovan Harbour, the top-ranked prospect in Wisconsin, and Cooper Cousins, the second-ranked player in Pennsylvania.

Penn State's 2024 recruiting class ranks seventh nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite.
