Penn State vs. Indiana preview
The Nittany Lions have been on a remarkable dual-meet run that should continue this season. Penn State has won 47 consecutive dial meets since its last loss to Iowa in 2020. That includes three consecutive unbeaten seasons and seven in the last eight years. This Penn State roster shows no signs of ending that streak.
Coach Cael Sanderson's Penn State roster has eight starters ranked in the top 10, according to Intermat Wrestling, with four a No. 1. And that list doesn't include a pair of exceptional freshmen who are making huge strides in the lineup.
True freshman Braedan Davis (125) is 9-0 with wins over three ranked wrestlers, including No. 15 Brandon Kaylor of Oregon State. Fellow freshman Tyler Kasak has bumped successfully to 149 pounds, going 2-0 with a win over No. 12 Nash Singleton of Oregon State. Kasak has just one loss, and it was to a teammate at 141. Beau Bartlett, ranked second nationally at 141, defeated Kasak 4-1 at the Army Black Knight Invitational. The emergence of Davis and Kasak have eased Penn State's concerns at two key weight classes and furthered the roster's reputation as the nation's best.
Indiana began its East Coast road trip with a 30-11 loss at Rutgers on Friday. Hoosiers to watch are No. 14 Graham Rooks, who will test Kasak at 141, and No. 23 Tyler Lillard, who meets 10th-ranked Mitchell Mesenbrink at 165.
