PITTSBURGH -- Turner Sports contributor and NCAA college basketball correspondent Andy Katz was not impressed with the Pitt Panthers this week, even after they won two in a row to extend their winning streak to five games. Katz dropped the Panthers in his latest Power 36 rankings from No. 21 to No. 24 and moved them down slightly in his latest bracket projections.

Katz now has Pitt slotted as a nine seed, down from the eight seed they were before. If his predictions hold, the Panthers would play Missouri in the West Region's 8-9 game, which will be held in Sacramento, California. The top seed in the region, Texas, would loom barring a historic 16-over-1 upset from UNC Asheville.

Pitt has two good chances to improve on their already solid standing in the field. They host an improved and dangerous Boston College team before traveling to face Virginia Tech on the road this weekend. The Panthers are currently tied for first atop the ACC with Virginia, but hold the tiebreaker over the Cavaliers because of their head-to-head win from January.
