Former Pitt F Mouhamadou Gueye Makes NBA Debut

Former Pitt Panthers forward Mouhamadou Gueye played his first NBA minutes.

PITTSBURGH -- Mere days after signing a 10-day contract with the Toronto Raptors, former Pitt Panthers forward Mouhamdadou Gueye saw the first NBA action of his career.

Gueye, who played one season at Pitt as a graduate transfer, played six minutes and scored two points, grabbed three rebounds and blocked two shots in a 122-99 loss for the Toronto Raptors to the San Antonio Spurs.

Gueye signed an Exhibit 10 training camp deal with the Raptpors over the summer but didn't make the NBA roster. He has spent most of his time his time away from Pitt in the G League. He's played for the Texas Legends, an affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks. He averaged nine points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game while making 55.9% of his field goals over 11 appearances last season.

Gueye blossomed playing with the Raptors 905, Toronto's G-League affiliate, this season. He's averaging 13.7 points, nine rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game while making 52.1% of his field goals over 31.3 minutes per appearance.

At the 2023 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, Nevada, Gueye appeared in all five games, starting three for the Raptors. He averaged 7.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.0 block per game while making 44.8% of his field goals.

He enjoyed a decorated two-year career at Stony Brook, where he earned a reputation as an all-league defender. At Pitt, Gueye added a diverse offensive game to his defensive pedigree, averaging 9.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per night while knocking down 36% of his 3-point shots over a career-high 29 minutes per game.
