PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers suffered a frustrating loss on the road to Clemson this week but the good news is they didn't fall very far in the all-important NET Rankings.

Pitt took a small step back from No. 47 to No. 49 overnight following a seven-point loss loss to a highly-ranked Tigers team that opens the day ranked at No. 23. Clearly, a competitive loss to a well-regarded team didn't sink the Panthers in the computers' eyes but missing an opportunity to pick up an impressive win will cost them more

Pitt's losses to Wake Forest and Clemson, both Quad 1 opportunities, will prove extremely costly as they fight to remain in the NCAA Tournament picutre.

The Panthers are running out of chances to give that ranking a major boost. They don't have a Quad 1 left on the schedule between games on the road at Boston College and at home against Florida State and N.C. State.

Pitt's chances of an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament aren't dead yet but they are on life support after two major opportunities slipped through their fingers.
