WASHINGTON, DC -- The Pitt Panthers sat just hours away from their ACC quarterfinal matchup with Wake Forest but battles on the NCAA Tournament bubble raged elsewhere around the country.

An upset at the Atlantic 10 Tournament in Brooklyn, New York likely opened up one more at-large bid but a victory for a bubble team in the Big 10 likely took one away as Pitt fights for their postseason lives.

The first domino to fall was the Atlantic 10's top seed, Richmond, falling in the quarterfinals of their conference tournament, 66-61 to St. Joesph's. The Spiders and the rest of the Atlantic 10 needed a lot of things to break their way to get two or more bid to the NCAA Tournament but the Spiders losing so early likely eliminates them from the field.

The Spiders were solidly in the field, according to ESPN's Joe Lunardi and CBS Sports' Jerry Palm but they sit on shaky ground without a chance to improve their resume before selection Sunday.

Michigan State was in a tight battle with Minnesota over at the Big 10 title but the Spartans likely locked up an at-large bid with a 77-67 victory over the Golden Gophers.

Pitt will tip off their quarterfinal matchup from Capital One Arena against Wake Forest at 2:30 p.m. ESPN2 will carry the broadcast.
