PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers could have a rare talent on their hands in freshman point guard Bub Carrington, who has continued to garner recognition as a serious professional prospect as his freshman season gets off to a hot start.

Yahoo Sports NBA draft analyst Krysten Peek has Carrington leaving Pitt after just one year and being picked up by the Orlando Magic with the 18th overall pick in the 2024 Draft, which would make him the first former Panther drafted since Steven Adams in 2013 and just the sixth first-round pick in program history.

"Everyone loves an early first-round sleeper and Carrington fits that mold perfectly after what he’s done early at Pittsburgh,"  He has great size at the guard position and has improved his 3-point shot from high school, draining long 3s (sometimes from the logo) in his first couple of games. Carrington is averaging 18 points and 6.3 assists in his first four games and many scouts will be watching to see what he does against tougher competition coming up."

Through just four games in college, Carrington has averaged 18 points, 5.5 rebounds and 6.3 assists to just 1.3 turnovers per contest. He's earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors twice in as many weeks.

Carrington will face the biggest tests of his young Pitt career this week, when the Panthers travel to Brooklyn, New York for the Season NIT Tip-Off, where they'll play Florida and then either No. 15 Baylor or Oregon State.
