Pitt Contacts Former Ivy League DL
PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers are slated to lose a slew of upperclassmen defensive linemen this offseason to graduation and, before the 2023 season has come to a conclusion, they've begun to look in the transfer portal for replacements.
Pitt contacted former Penn defensive lineman Joey Slackman just one day after he entered the transfer portal. They were one of six schools to reach out during his first day of open recruitment.
Slackman, a 2022 All-Ivy League selection, has racked up 115 total tackes, 25 TFLs, 11 sacks, three passes defended and two forced fumbles over 28 games with the Quakers in three seasons. The 6'4, 300-pound defensive tackle recorded 12 sacks in just nine games so far this season.
UConn, BYU, Houston, Rutgers, and Illinois are the only teams besides Pitt to have reached out to Slackman so far.
