Pitt Will Play Wisconsin in International Season Opener
PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers will take a trip overseas to open the 2027 season against a marquee opponent.
According to a report from NBC Sports college sports insider Nicole Auerbach, the Panthers will meet Wisconsin for the second game of what is supposed to be a home-and-home series in Ireland. The Pitt program later confirmed the report.
The game was originally scheduled for September 11, 2027, but has been moved up to August 28, 2027. They will meet at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland, where Navy and Notre Dame played to open the 2023 season, according to a release from the Wisconsin program.
The 2027 contest between the Badgers and Panthers was supposed to be a home game for Pitt at Acrisure Stadium. According to the same release from Wisconsin, this trip to Ireland will serve as a home game for Pitt. The Panthers will travel to Madison, Wisconsin to open this two-game set against the Badgers in 2026.
