PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers will lose leading scorer Blake Hinson to graduation this offseason and have already gotten to work looking for someone to help fill the void he leaves behind through the transfer portal.

Pitt was on of the first five schools to contact former UNC Greensboro forward, Mikeal Brown-Jones, who was in the portal on the first day he could. Arkansas, Miami, Wisconsin and Georgia have already reached out as well, according to a report from On3's Joe Tipton.

It's easy to see why so many Power 5 schools have jumped at the opportunity to recruit Brown-Jones, who flourished for the Spartans in the first year of his career as a full-time starter.

In 28 games, all starts, Brown-Jones averaged 18.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game while shooting 56% from 2-point range, 43.1% from deep and 78.7% from the free throw line. He earned First-Team All-Southern Conference honors.

The Panthers have one open scholarship remaining entering the 2024-25 season that they can use. No players from the 2023-24 roster besides Hinson and fellow senior K.J. Marshall have announced they intend to leave the program at this time.
