PITTSBURGH -- Last week, the Pitt Panthers earned a ranking in the AP top 25 for the first time in seven years but it was a short stay among college basketball's elite.

During their one week in the AP top 25, the Panthers lost twice to Notre Dame and then-No. 16 Miami. Their 0-2 week dropped them from the top 25 back to the "receiving votes" category. Pitt earned 10 points this week, the 34th-most of anyone in the country.

Three ACC teams - No. 13 Virginia, No. 14 Miami and No. 21 Duke - are ranked this week. The Panthers were the only other school in the conference to earn any votes. Pitt owns a 3-4 record against teams receiving votes this week, including victories over Virginia, Miami and Northwestern and losses to the Hurricanes, Blue Devils, West Virginia and Vanderbilt.
