Report: Pitt to Face Georgetown in Secret Scrimmage
PITTSBURGH -- The cat's out of the bag - the Pitt Panthers will play in a secret scrimmage against a familiar opponent from the Big East.
According to a report from George Michalowski of Pittsburgh Sports Now, the Panthers will take on Georgetown this weekend, giving them a good look against a new-look, transfer-laden team under the leadership of a new head coach.
The Hoyas are in their first year under the leadership of former Providence head coach Ed Cooley, who took the Georgetown job after Patrick Ewing was fired. He brings in a highly-touted transfer class led by Jayden Epps, Dontrez Styles and Ismael Massoud.
According to a report from Fox Sports' Jon Fanta, the Hoyas topped ACC foe Wake Forest, 81-77 on their home turf in Washington, D.C. last weekend behind 46 points from Epps. Pitt's young guards will get their first big test trying to content with him.
Baring the addition of any other secret scrimmages, this and a November 1 exhibition against Pitt-Johnstown at the Petersen Events Center will be the only opportunities for a preseason tune-up that the Panthers will get before opening the regular season against North Carolina A&T.
