PITTSBURGH -- The last time fans saw Pitt Panthers center Federiko Federiko, he was struggling to even get through limited minutes of NCAA Tournament action while dealing with a knee injury but his recovery seems to be going well this offseason.

According to a report from George Michalowski, who interviewed Pitt assistant coach Jason Capel about his trip to visit Federiko in his hometown of Helsinki, Finland, Federiko is fully healthy and practicing along with the Susejengi Rising All Stars and the Finnish National Team. He's currently training ahead of a tryout for the team that will play in the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

Federiko suffered a sprained MCL during the Panthers' postseason run this past March.

He played sparingly in the third round of the ACC Tournament against Duke and was a last-minute scratch from the lineup prior to Pitt's NCAA Tournament opener against Mississippi State. Federiko returned to play against Iowa State in the round of 64 and also saw action in the ensuing game against Xavier, when the Panthers' season ended, but played just 12 minutes combined in those two games.

The 6'11 sophomore JuCo transfer averaged 6.6 points and 5.3 rebounds over 35 games and 27 starts while making 66.7% of his field goals a season ago.
