PITTSBURGH -- A career-best year in his final season of college basketball has helped former Pitt Panthers sharpshooter Greg Elliott earn a look from his hometown NBA team.

With his Pitt career over, Elliott will work out for the Detroit Pistons according to a report from George Michalowski of Pittsburgh Sports Now. Elliott grew up in Detroit and played his high school ball at English Village Prep.

He spent four years at Marquette but had the most successful season of his college career with the Panthers, averaging career-highs in points, rebounds, 3-point field goals made and attempted and shooting the second-highest percentage from deep of his career.

Elliott averaged 10.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game while making 41.6% of his 3-point shots on a career-high 5.1 attempts over 29.3 minutes per contest while adding a steady, positive presence for the Panthers from an emotional standpoint.

Even if he is not drafted or signed by an NBA team, Elliott's basketball career is not over. He'll play for the Pitt-affiliated Zoo Crew team in The Basketball Tournament later this summer.
