PITTSBURGH -- One of the most prolific and talented scorers in the ACC is transferring this offseason and he could be staying inside the conference. The Pitt Panthers contacted former Louisville guard El Ellis, hoping he is one of the players that will help fill a void left in the backcourt by four departing seniors.

The Panthers aren't the only ACC squad interested in his services - NC State, Clemson and Flordia State are also involved in his recruitment, according to a report from The Portal Report. Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Creighton, Oregon, Florida, Georgia, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Ohio State and UCF have also contacted Ellis.

Ellis, an All-ACC Honorable Mention in 2023, took big strides forward in his second year at the Division I level after transferring to Louisville from Tallahassee Community College. He averaged 17.7 points and 4.4 assists per game for the Cardinals, who muddled through one of the worst seasons in program history under first-year head coach Kenny Payne.

His 3-point shooting took a dive - 36% to 32% year to year - as the volume increased by more than two attempts per game and he committed 3.8 turnovers per game as one of giveaway-prone Louisville's lead ball-handlers, but he is nonetheless a talented player that will garner plenty of interest the longer he stays in the portal.
