PITTSBURGH -- Jamarius Burton will depart college basketball after a long, winding career that ended with him acting as the centerpiece of the Pitt Panthers' first NCAA Tournament team in seven years. His work spearheaded the program's revival and now Burton is looking to take the next step in his basketball career.

The now former Pitt standout has signed with Edge Sports representation as he pursues a career in professional basketball. Burton joins Wake Forest's Tyree Appleby, Ohio State's Sean McNeil and Clemson's Brevin Galloway as recent additions to Edge Sports' client list. The group represent a number of NBA and European professional players and coaches.

Burton has not yet announced whether or not he will declared for the NBA Draft. He has until the end of May to do so.

Burton was selected to the All-ACC first team after averaging 15.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game last season. He will try to follow in the footsteps of Justin Champagnie, another first-team All-ACC player for Capel who is currently on the Boston Celtics roster after going undrafted and spending most of his first two years as a professional in the NBA's G League.
