PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers rallied from down 19 points in the second half to pull within just a possession of Miami on the road and they had a chance to either tie or win the game on the final play of the game.

Freshman guard Jaland Lowe had the ball and orchestrated the last possession for Pitt with his team trailing by two and just 10 seconds remaining. He went looking for contact way out on the perimeter when matched up on Miami center Norchad Omier and got some, but didn't get the benefit of a call from the officials. Panthers head coach Jeff Capel declined to give his thoughts on the no-call following the 72-68 loss.

"You know, all of you guys know I'm not allowed to comment on that," Capel said. "So whatever you saw, you can comment on it because I don't want to get fined."

Miami coraled the loose ball and Keyontae George made two free throws to ice the win as Pitt tried to extend the contest with a foul.

Screenshots and video replay showed that Omier brought his arm down and he appeared to swipe Lowe on the arm, leading to the errant attempt from Lowe, who spent a moment on the ground with arms up, thinking he was sure to hear a whistle.

The Panthers certainly didn't do themselves any favors as they tried to pull out a third straight win. They shot just 37.5% from the field for the game and 32.3% from the field in the first half. They also missed seven of 16 free throw attempts in a four-point loss.

But even after overcoming those struggles, Pitt came up just short in the final 10 seconds.
