Former Pitt QB Interviewing for Patriots OC Job

Former Pitt Panthers quarterback Luke Getsy is up for a coordinator job with the Patriots.

PITTSBURGH -- Former Pitt Panthers quarterback Luke Getsy is being considered for multiple offensive coordinator jobs this offseason and another team has added themselves to the list of interested parties.

After traveling to Las Vegas to interview with the Raiders earlier this week, Getsy is expected to head back across the country to interview with the New England Patriots for their vacant offensive coordinator job, according to a report from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

The Bears fired Getsy alongside quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko and receivers coach Tyke Tolbert, running backs coach Omar Young and assistant tight ends coach Tim Zetts earlier this month. Chicago ranked 23rd and 18th in points and 28th and 20th in yards per game in each of the two seasons with Getsy coordinating the offense.

Getsy, a Munhall, Pennsylvania native and Steel Valley High School alumnus, began his college career at Pitt, earning a scholarship to play quarterback coming out of high school in 2003. He then transferred to Akron after two years with the Panthers and led the Zips to its first conference championship and bowl game appearance in program history while breaking 24 school records in the process.

Getsy was a graduate assistant for the Panthers during the 2010 season and made other stops at Akron, West Virginia Wesleyan, IUPUI, Western Michigan and Mississippi State during his college coaching career. In the NFL, he's coached for the Green Bay Packers in addition to the Bears.
