PITTSBURGH -- Pitt Panthers point guard Bub Carrington has a new landing spot in an updated 2024 NBA Mock Draft from Yahoo Sports.

Draft analyst Krysten Peek has the Panthers' stud freshman being selected in the first round, 25th overall to the New York Knicks despite a recent plateau in production.

"Carrington has cooled after his hot start to the season but is still showing upside as an elite playmaker in how well he can break down defenders off the dribble," Peek wrote. "His outside shot and shot selection needs some fine-tuning, shooting 33.8% from 3-point range, but he has great size for the point guard position and a lot of raw talent to boot."

Carrington opened his college career with a bang, notching a triple-double in his first game and averaging 18 points, 6.3 assists and 5.3 rebounds through his first four games while knocking down 52% of his 3-pointers and 60% of his 2-point attempts.

A stretch of four straight games against Power 5 opponents proved to be a momentary wall for Carrington as his shooting spits and counting stats dove. But he's responded well since, averaging 12.3 points and 5.3 assists to just 1.3 turnovers per game.

The 3-point shooting hasn't yet rebounded to it's absurd pre-Thanksgiving levels but he'll have a chance to improve on that this week when the Panthers take on Purdue-Fort Wayne at the Petersen Events Center this week in their final non-conference contest of the regular season.
