Former Pitt F Mouhamadou Gueye Signs with Raptors
PITTSBURGH -- Former Pitt Panthers forward Mouhamadou Gueye impressed the Toronto Raptors enough to earn his first NBA contract.
Gueye, who spent one year at Pitt as a graduate transfer, signed an Exhibit 10 training camp deal with the Raptors this week, the team announced. It is a one-year deal for the minimum salary that could be changed to a two-way contract before the regular season begins if Toronto chooses to exercise that option.
Gueye has spent most of his time his time away from Pitt in the G League. He's played for the Texas Legends, an affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks. He averaged nine points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game while making 55.9% of his field goals over 11 appearances last season.
At the 2023 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, Nevada, Gueye appeared in all five games, starting three for the Raptors. He averaged 7.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.0 block per game while making 44.8% of his field goals.
He enjoyed a decorated two-year career at Stony Brook, where he earned a reputation as an all-league defender. At Pitt, Gueye added a diverse offensive game to his defensive pedigree, averaging 9.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per night while knocking down 36% of his 3-point shots over a career-high 29 minutes per game.
