PITTSBURGH -- The entire ACC world convened last week in Charlotte, North Carolina for the annual Conference Kickoff ceremonies and at that event, attending media voted in the ACC Preseason poll. After the votes were tallied, the Pitt Panthers fell into the top half of the predicted standings.

With 1,511 total points, Pitt tied Duke for sixth in the preseason rankings. Just four teams received a first-place and the Panthers were not one of them. Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina and North Carolina State all earned at least one first place vote.

Clemson was the top dog once again, earning 103 of 176 first place votes. The Seminoles trailed with 67 first place votes and . This season, Pitt plays three of the top seven teams in the preseason poll and five of the bottom eight.

Sixth represents some of the more optimistic preseason conference finish predictions the media have allotted the Panthers since Pat Narduzzi took over as head coach in 2015. As Chris Peak of Panther Lair points out, Pitt has still made a habit of out performing preseason expectations under his leadership.
