PITTSBURGH -- National college football recruiting insider Mike Farrell shared some of the rumors that he has heard about Pittsburgh Panthers wide receiver Jordan Addison, who entered the transfer portal on Tuesday.

Previous reports had said that returning to Pitt was still an option for the Biletnikoff winner, but Farrell wrote on Thursday morning that "the door appears closed at Pitt" for Addison.

According to Farrell, Addison's mom pushed for him to stay at Pitt and he considered his legacy at the school as well. Winning a Biletnikoff already puts him in the company of Larry Fitzgerald and Antonio Bryant, two all-time great Panther pass catchers.

Farrell added that transferring is not about Name, Image and Likeness deals and that Addison is looking for a place to improve his draft stock. Farrell said Addison thinks he needs a quarterback who will help make him better. After Kenny Pickett left, he went through spring practices at Pitt and get a feel for the offense with Kedon Slovis and Nick Patti at the helm, but still decided to move on.

Teams with elite quarterbacks are now the front runners, according to Farrell. He wrote that Texas and No. 1 overall recruit in the class of 2022, Quinn Ewers in addition to Heisman winner Bryce Young's Alabama and Caleb Williams' USC are the front runners right now.
