PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Panthers football head coach Pat Narduzzi played in the Peach Bowl Challenge Charity Golf Tournament this past weekend and, in an interview at the event, shared some of his thoughts about the transfer portal and NIL.

Narduzzi said that Panthers quarterback Kedon Slovis, who transferred to Pitt last December, had plenty of opportunities to take a lucrative Name, Image and Likeness deal while playing at a different school, but chose Pitt because he felt it was the best fit given where he was in his football career.

"He went into the portal the real way -- the right way -- and he had a lot of opportunities with Name, Image and Likeness, but I think he was looking for the right fit," Narduzzi said." He was looking for the right personnel and we have a lot returning on offense -- that's what he was looking for.

"He wasn't looking for a payday. He was looking for the right place to be with a great culture and he wanted people -- he wanted a team that was going to be [tight]. So that's what Kedon's got, and he's been special ever since he got here."

These comments appear to indirectly reference Jordan Addison, the Biletnikoff Award-winning wide receiver who entered the transfer portal this week amid rumors that boosters from some of college football's biggest name brands are prepared to offer him multi-million-dollar NIL deals.

Reports have indicated that Addison is still weighing a return to Pitt, but these comments do not make that seem likely. During Narduzzi's tenure at Pitt, no player has entered the transfer portal and remained in the program.
