PITTSBURGH -- With the official start of the 2023 college football season is less than a week away and the Pitt Panthers have been predicted to exceed their win total line of 6.5 by one ESPN insider.

Adam Rittenberg has released his season predictions for the entire Power 5 and he has the Panthers finishing in a four-way tie for third with North Carolina, Louisville and Miami, all with 5-3 conference records. He thinks Pitt will finish 8-4 overall, one game back of the nine-win Tar Heels and even with the Cardinals and Hurricanes.

Like most around college football, Rittenberg predicts Clemson and Florida State to be in a class of their own atop the ACC with records of 11-1 and 10-2, respectively, and play in the conference title game. He expects the Tigers to win the regular season matchup and the Seminoles to exact some revenge in the Championship Game.

No Pitt players or coaches landed on his list of superlatives, which included real end-of-season awards, like Offensive or Defensive Player of the Year, or subjective ones like Impact Transfer or Coach on the Hot Seat.
